Step by step
What Happens When You Call Us
From your first call to receiving your award, here's exactly what to expect.
1
You Call Us — Free, No Obligation
Call us free on 0800 161 5564. We'll have a friendly chat about your situation — your age, health conditions, and daily life. There's no hard sell and no commitment required. If we don't think we can help, we'll tell you honestly.
📞 Tip: If you're calling on behalf of a parent or family member, that's absolutely fine. We're used to working with adult children and carers.
2
Free Eligibility Check
We'll carry out a thorough eligibility check at no charge. We look at your health conditions, how they affect your daily life, and whether you meet the criteria for the lower rate, higher rate, or both. We'll give you an honest assessment — and only proceed if we're confident you have a strong case.
3
You Pay the £49 Form Completion Fee
If you'd like to go ahead, there's a one-off £49 fee for us to complete your Attendance Allowance form. This covers our time to complete the entire application on your behalf — over the phone, at your own pace.
🛡️ Money-back guarantee: If your application is rejected and we appeal on your behalf without success, we'll refund your £49 in full. No quibble.
4
We Complete Your Form — Expertly
The Attendance Allowance form is long and the questions can be confusing. The key is knowing how to describe your conditions accurately and in the right way. We complete the form on your behalf, making sure your day-to-day difficulties are presented clearly so that the DWP can make a fair decision.
5
DWP Makes Their Decision
The DWP typically takes 6–12 weeks to process an Attendance Allowance application. They may contact you directly during this time — we'll prepare you for what to expect. Once a decision is made, they'll write to you with the outcome.
6
You Receive Your Award — and Pay Our Success Fee
When you're awarded, your DWP payments start. Our success fee — equal to four weeks of your award — is payable at this point. Lower rate is £306, higher rate is £458. That's the only additional cost, and it's only ever due if you win.

Common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to come into an office?
No. Everything is done entirely over the phone. We never ask you to travel or attend in person.
Will this affect my other benefits or pension?
Attendance Allowance is tax-free and does not affect your State Pension. It can actually help you qualify for other benefits such as Pension Credit, so it's worth claiming even if you're already receiving support.
How long does the process take?
The phone call to complete the form usually takes around 30-40 minutes, depending on your circumstances. The DWP then takes 6–12 weeks to make a decision.
Many people are rejected on their first application because the form wasn't filled in correctly. Call us — we may be able to help you appeal or reapply with a stronger case.
What if I've already been rejected?
Are you from the DWP or the government?
No. Allowance Support is a completely independent, private service based in Bristol. We are not affiliated with the DWP, the government, or any public body.
